You’ve probably heard this before…

“Successful business owners outsource almost everything”

And if you’ve ever tried to build a website on your own, and gotten frustrated with all the techie stuff, then you’ve probably also thought that this is one of the first things you want to outsource.

But there is an important exception to this “outsource almost everything” rule which I talk about in this short video I made for you (Click Video Below)

The one thing that you shouldn’t outsource, that you cannot outsource, and still expect to succeed in your business is your marketing!

You must be in control of your marketing, and you must spend as much time as possible marketing your business, if you are going to get your message out and give your special gift to the world.

In this video I made for you, I share my story of how I discovered my passion for teaching non-techie people like you how to be in control of your website AND your marketing.

Steve Jobs is a man we all  have admired for a long time. And his “Secret to Success” is a philosophy that I believe has contributed to my success online, and it is what I teach my students.

Here is a short 1 minute clip where Steve Jobs shares  his “Secret to Success”,  see if this resonates with you.

Entrepreneurs need to listen to this, because to build a successful online business, you need to be passionate about and love what you are doing.  There will be times when you question yourself, when it gets hard, and when you have setbacks.

So if you don’t love what you do, then it’s not worth it.  And life is short.

Are you doing what you love to do?  If not, why?

Yes, I know that Google Plus has been around for a while now, but I’m not the kinda gal who always jumps onto the newest and hottest thing right away. I like to wait a while before I embrace something.  And with Google+ I’m not super excited yet. However, I am a big fan of many of the Google products (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar) as I use them all the time in my business.

Anyways, I’ve been pretty happy hanging out on Facebook (http://www.Facebook.com/christinahillsbiz) but I found these two videos that I thought I’d share with you about Google Plus.  It simplifies what Google Plus is and what Google Circles are.

This first video explains what Google Plus is.

This second video explains what Google Circles are…

Collaborating with Google Docs

Posted by: | Comments (7)

If you have a virtual company, or if you are collaborating with others on a project, Google Docs is a great way to work together without having the annoying problem of documents getting out of sync. I am doing this with my team as we plan the Website Creation Workshop Live Event in San Diego.

Now I have talked about Google Docs before on this blog, but I love how this little video shows you how you can see others working on your document in real time.

Watch this short video introducing Google Docs:

I use Google Docs with my Virtual Assistants all the time, as it helps us plan out projects and new WordPress websites that we are building together, so we can all work together virtually.

You can find out more by going to Google.com/apps/docs

When building a new website, you often don’t want the public to see your work as you are developing it.  We’ll I have created a video that shows you how to put your site ‘Under Construction’.

This uses the ‘Under Construction’ plugin by Jeremy Massel that you can find here:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/underconstruction/

I prefer under construction plugins vs under construction themes, because it let’s you work on your site, while hiding it. Another good under construction plugin is the one from CSS Jockey here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-coming-soon-page/ It’s a little fancier, and you can add custom graphics to it, but I prefer the first from Jeremy Massel only because it’s faster to install.
